Stavkirke is a complete replica of the Scandinavian churches found across Europe, built to honor the culture and legacy of the Scandinavian and Norwegian cultures engrained on Washington Island. The church is used year-round by Trinity Lutheran for small worship services and quiet meditation. It’s a popular spot for small and intimate weddings, since only about thirty people can fit inside the chapel. Stavkirke is also open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so you can pop the question on any day in any season!

Over 200 feet above the bay of Green Bay, the tower offers panoramic views of the park, surrounding islands, the water, and even the upper Michigan shoreline. Take engagement photos during the summer for the bright blue water or during fall for the fiery burst of colors from the surrounding trees. There are also several scenic trails near the tower that provide beautiful backgrounds for your special moment.

At Fragrant Isle Lavender Farm, you’ll be transported to Provence, France with its lavender French café and pastries. Truly, there’s not a more romantic place in all of Door County.

Cave Point is fairly crowded with visitors during the summer and fall, so if you’re looking for someplace more private, there are plenty of trails around the park that you can hike to a more secluded spot, each with their own stunning backdrops for engagement photos. Cave Point is breathtaking no matter the season, and there’s no better place to ask the love of your life for their hand in marriage than one of the most beautiful places on the peninsula.
