Your Guide to Pride in Door County

Pride Month is the time to celebrate love and inclusion, and Door County is home to several fun Pride events for everyone to enjoy!

Door County in June is filled with many things to do and activities to fill up your weekend. One of our celebrations throughout the month of June in Door County is Pride Month! Many local nonprofits, restaurants, and retailers participate in the celebration of the LGBT community. There are many events throughout the month of June to celebrate Pride, and we have a guide just for you!

1. Pride The Circus

Step right up for this sensational event right in Door County! Pride The Circus is an event hosted by Northern Door Pride. This non-profit organization’s mission is to inspire the Door County community to be the best versions of themselves by embracing everyone.  Pride The Circus will be held on June 13 in Sister Bay Village Hall. The event will involve a true circus experience including a raffle, carnival games, a magician, a fire juggler, and circus acts that will be perfect for any family looking for something to do on a Tuesday night in Door County. To finish out the night, there will be live music entertainment from DJ Brawny beginning at 7:30 p.m. All money raised at this event will go to Northern Door Pride to continue their community outreach, as well as to start a mentorship program.

2. Wild Tomato Donation Creation Pizza Party

Did someone say pizza? We’re there! Open Door Pride is hosting two separate pizza parties with Wild Tomato on June 3and June 20 in Sister Bay Beach Park. You can pick up your pizza at Wild Tomato and follow the pride flags down to Sister Bay Beach. Wild Tomato Pizza in Door County has a unique menu where each month they have a “Donation Creation” pizza. Wild Tomato will donate one dollar per pizza to a nonprofit, and this month’s proceeds will go to Open Door Pride. The pizza is topped with Mexican birria, which is a slow-cooked shredded beef, cheese, red onions, cilantro, lime, and a sour cream drizzle. You can find this pizza at both Wild Tomato locations in Sister Bay and Fish Creek.

3. Pride Anthems

If you are looking for the perfect time to get out for a Door County weekend, come the weekend of June 23! This weekend is jammed pack with events in Door County. Starting off strong is Pride Anthems, hosted by Door Community Auditorium. Our restaurant Carrington is a major sponsor for this musical event! Beginning at 8:00 p.m., you will hear queer-inspired music, from disco all the way to the present day, on a vibrant musical journey. Door Community Auditorium’s Pride Anthems hopes to inspire and celebrate the joy of queer lives. Additionally, the musical experience event will feature a comedy show from Door County’s very own Owen Alabado, a local filmmaker, photographer, actor, comedian, AND president of Northern Door Pride! 4. Open Door Pride Fest

Open Door Pride’s festival is a great opportunity to meet individuals and organizations promoting diversity, inclusivity, and positivity in Door County!

Another event happening that weekend, on June 24, is the 7th Annual Open Door Pride Fest. Hosted by Open Door Pride, Door County’s first non-profit Pride organization, there are many exciting things to do at this event, including art, games in the park, and a 50/50 raffle. This Door County festival has live music entertainment including MC Barrett Tyron and DJ Tim Walters. Open Door Pride Fest will be on Saturday, June 24, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Martin Park in Sturgeon Bay. For more information about Pride Fest, head over to Open Door Pride’s website.

5. Support LGBT+ Businesses

If you’re unable to attend Door County’s pride events, you can still celebrate Pride through the many restaurants, coffee shops, and retailers throughout Door County that support Open Door Pride and Northern Door Pride. Not sure where to start? Simply look for the Pride flags flying around town! Check out Sturgeon Bay’s Lawlss Coffee & Roasting to sip on a raspberry pineapple chai. Hop over to Wally’s Weenie Wagon for multiple different hot dog options including a Danger Dog or Cherry Bacon Dog. Munch on handmade bread, pastries, or fresh-baked desserts at MacReady Artisan Bread Company. Paddle over the water in the bay from one of Bay Shore Outfitters’ kayaks.
